Thou Art November!
This poem is dedicated to all who were born, have died and are living in November.
THOU ART NOVEMBER! 🕚
Thou art November,
The penultimate month of the year.
For on the annual earth's annual clock,
Thou art the eleventh hour.
Thou bringeth hope when she is gone;
Thou imparteth strength when we can't go on.
Children love to play wild in thy weather calm;
Couples in love lark openly in thy friendly arms;
The birds of the air twitter in harmonious chorale,
For the aura of thy delightful season is that of
Calmness and warmth and enduring pleasantness.
Thou art November, but known differently
In the asssorted tongues of men the world over.
Some calleth thee Novembre, Nufimbir, Shiyiyue.
To others thou art known as Obubuo, Alemle,
And still to others, Nuwamba, Adeemekporxe!
Thou sitteth majestically like a comely noble prince,
Between those two that serve as thy faithful attendants:
October on your left and December as thy right-hand man.
And after a successful consultation with thee,
December is tasked to inaugurate a Happy New Year.
Thou hast thirty servants who serve daily,
And four chief servants who superintend weekly;
Moreover, there are countless hourly and secondly maids,
Essential staff who together work in perfect harmony,
For the safety and comfort of the living you contain.
Thou welcometh into the world babies with noble vision,
And in time they are turned into persons of high reputation.
The likes of Marie Curie, CV Raman, George Eliot,
CS Lewis, Winston Churchill, Mark Twain et al.,
Admit that thy bosom of greatness containeth
Greatness of biblical proportions!
Thou also seeth about the peaceful exit of men and women
With influential and prestigious life achievement;
A permanent farewell into the other world.
Talk of Ezra Pound, Napoleon Hill, JE Murray,
Johannes Kepler, Gerrald Nabarro and the rest of the great.
These were men of substance who turned the world around.
Thy birthstones are Topaz and Citrine,
Two treasured gems that signify thy great worth:
Citrine exudes warmness and healing;
Topaz symbolizes love and affection;
It epitomises raw intellect and pure strength.
Chrysanthemum is thy birth flower;
She bears on her gorgeous floral plate
Beautiful petals that glow with brilliant power:
A sign of cheerfulness, love and unceasing laughter;
These we cannot buy even at the highest dollar rate.
Thy children they say are so different from others:
They are unique because they like to think outside the box,
They are loyal, good-looking, hardworking,
They are calm and collected, got their own rules,
They are fair to everyone and often misunderstood.
But thy children are dearly loved anyway, even a stooge!
Oh thou month of November!
Rain on us thy showers of blessing;
Shine on us thy radiance refreshing.
And whatever thou hast received from heaven above,
Whether it be peace or grace or mercy or love,
Pour out on us till thy cup of goodness runneth empty,
Surely, let this be a season we shall always remember!
For thou art November!
